Cabin Steward Training Program
(Performing Housekeeping Services leading to Housekeeping NC II)

In response to the growing need for well-trained and knowledgeable Cabin Stewards  in the cruise line  industry, we have developed this program to introduce the occupation to those interested to work as Cabin Stewards here in the Philippines and abroad.

Course structure is combined with the theoretical aspects and practical aspects. In this regard, we conduct an in-house review for the modules and on the job work experience in accredited hotels and local cruise lines. We want our students to have a full understanding of the occupation through learning from actual experiences.

We have skilled instructors and module developer from teaching and hospitality industries who teach and develop the certification programs in an effective manner.

We also ensure that our students become equipped with the job knowledge, good work ethics, excellent communication skills by the end of the program.

Students take review classes first and must pass the final exam before beginning actual on the job work experience. Students will have time to focus on the modules, but they will also be equipped with the basic language terms, duties & responsibilities once they start their on-the-job work experience in a hotel or in local cruise lines.

Duties and Responsibilities include: clean a stateroom according to standards set by the      accommodation department, conduct pre-embarkation procedures; conduct stateroom familiarization to guests; and conduct proper turn down service of staterooms among others. The training program consists of:

  • Five weeks classroom  review & discussion
  • Workbook that contains six modules
  • 300 hours on-job-work experience in hotels or local cruise lines
  • Practical examination for National Assessment

On-the-job work experience program Students may choose to have their OJT with our affiliate hotels or local cruise lines such as Ocean Link, the training arm of Negros Navigation and sister company of Ocean Wave Cruisers, an international placement agency for seafarers; and SuperFerry, a sister company of Aboitiz-Jebsens, an international placement agency for seafarers. HRPC Training and Accreditation Assistance Centre, Inc and its foreign partner, Recruitment Solutions International Ltd. (RSI), are proud to announce that they are approved by the Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) to conduct review classes for housekeepers and food and beverage workers in the Philippines. The hospitality certification program prepares hospitality workers to work in a hotel and restaurant setting by evaluating the workers according to Canadian Standards. The certification programs consist of:
  • classroom study;
  • AHLA online examination; and
  • On-the-Job work experience.
The certification programs used in Manila are the same programs used in Alberta and other Canadian provinces to certify hospitality workers.

Canadian hotel and restaurant employers are assured of knowledgeable housekeepers and food and beverage servers because the modules and examination standards applied in the Philippines based programs are the same standards and examination used in Canada.

The Alberta Hotel and Lodging Association is responsible for the administration of the emerit certification program for hospitality workers in Alberta.  emerit certification is recognized across Canada by the hospitality industry. emerit certification was developed using a competency-based approach, so it assesses a person's combined knowledge and skills and their ability to demonstrate these in the workplace. This differentiates emerit from many other assessment systems that focus on measuring knowledge and not the application of that knowledge. Candidates who seek the emerit credential must not only have the requisite experience but pass a multiple-choice exam and, in addition, must also demonstrate mastery of the occupation through an On-the-Job work experience evaluation. This approach ensures that candidates awarded the emerit credential have both the theoretical knowledge to perform at a high level, and the practical knowledge employers seek in their employees.
